Girafrica - 3 - Advice For New Job Seekers

I am writing this post to help new and old career seekers who are currently in the market for a new job and applying for positions:

Your application is your first impression to the hiring company or recruitment company. Make it count!

Firstly, when applying for a position, NEVER send a blank email with just your CV. What are you applying for; to be the tea lady? Quote job tittle in the subject and write a very short summary of your experience and include your required salary/ current salary. Save a template to make it easier for next time you apply.

Secondly, make your CV memorable and not because of your numerous spelling mistakes. You only have to write your CV once, do it right the first time. Check for grammar and spelling mistakes. When adding a photo, keep it professional; a selfie in the car with pouting lips will not land you that job unless you are applying for a lipstick model.

Be respectful/ professional whoever you are talking to during this application process. When you do not hear back within 2 weeks, call and ask politely if your application was unsuccessful and you will most probably be remembered for any future opportunities.

Good luck with the job hunting!
